Grenfell Local Court, also known as Grenfell Court House, was built in 1879. It is located on Camp Street in central Grenfell.

What cases are heard in Grenfell Court House?

Local Courts hear a variety of criminal matters and drink driving and traffic matters. The following information applies to Grenfell Local Court, as well as all other Local Courts in Australia.

Most matters will start at the Local Court. The Local Court primarily hears summary offences, which are less serious offences. Examples of such offences include disorderly behaviour and driving under the influence of alcohol or a drug. The Local Court will sometimes hear more serious offences, such as low-level assault, but this is rare. Most serious offences are heard at the District Court and higher Courts.

The Local Court also hears family law matters such as property settlements and residence orders.
