Bombala is a town in the Monaro region of south-eastern New South Wales, in Snowy Monaro Regional Council. It is approximately 485 kilometres south of Sydney, and 80 kilometres south of the town of Cooma.

Bombala Local Court, also known as Bombala Court House, was built in 1880. It is located on the corner of Dickinson Street and High Street.

What cases are heard in Bombala Court House?

Local Courts hear a variety of criminal matters and drink driving and traffic matters. The following information applies to Bombala Local Court, as well as all other Local Courts in Australia.

Most matters will start at the Local Court. The Local Court primarily hears summary offences, which are less serious offences. Examples of such offences include disorderly behaviour and driving under the influence of alcohol or a drug. The Local Court will sometimes hear more serious offences, such as low-level assault, but this is rare. Most serious offences are heard at the District Court and higher Courts.
